If you’re an INFJ, you’ll probably recognize yourself in these. And if you’re not—maybe this helps you understand the INFJ in your life a little better. Let’s just start with the first one:
INFJs are socially intuitive
Put an INFJ in a group meeting and we’ll immediately sense the social atmosphere. We can absorb the emotional tone of the room, understand who’s the boss, who’s being looked up to, and where everyone falls in the unspoken hierarchy.
We notice the subtle social nuances – instantly.
That’s why we can often sense where a team dynamic isn’t working and, more importantly, why. We see the root of the problem and usually know exactly how to improve it.
If only someone would actually listen to us… hmm.
And also, something I’ve noticed—when I talk to managers, I just talk to them like they’re my colleagues. Not someone “higher up” on the ladder. Really not my style.
INFJs are visionaries
We kinda live in the future all our life. It’s like a double-edged sword, because while we can see what’s coming, we sometimes struggle to stay grounded in the present moment.
Thanks to our introverted intuition (our dominant function), we just know how things might unfold.
That new company plan? It’s not going to work.
That couple? Not going to last.
Most of the time—we’re right. Let’s say 95%. (Okay, maybe 90%, let’s be humble.)
But when we have a clear vision and get excited about it? We just know it’s going to happen. If we take the right steps, it’s already done in our mind.
INFJs are naturally trustworthy
People feel relaxed around INFJs. Even strangers open up to us. We give people space to be themselves, and that makes them feel safe.
We hear things like:
“I don’t know why I’m telling you this.”
“I’ve never told anyone this before.”
And what do we do with all that?
Nothing. We just listen. We absorb. We reflect.
We don’t use it against anyone.
Unless you hurt us. Then we door slam you. And then we use it against you.
(Just kidding! Kind of…)
Jokes aside, we genuinely want people to shine. We absorb a lot because we care—and that naturally leads to the next point.
INFJs are natural life advisors
We’re such an old souls. It feels like we’ve lived through a several lifetimes already.
According to MBTI, we’re “counselors,” and that’s exactly how it feels. So like… who else would you go to for advice? Your therapist? Your mom? Nah, just find an INFJ. We’re like walking therapists—for free.
We’re good listeners, we spot patterns super fast, and somehow we just know what to say—even if we knew nothing about the person before. The moment we recognize a pattern, it’s like a light bulb goes on 💡 and we give advice —straight-to-the-point.
The real shift happens when we stop giving advice to everyone else and finally start giving it to ourselves. (still working on it)
We’re good listeners
“You’re such a good listener.”
“I wanted to stop talking but you make it so easy to keep going.”
If I had a euro for every time I heard that, I’d retire early.
We don’t talk much about ourselves at first—not because we’re hiding anything, but because we genuinely want to understand you.
We don’t feel the need to overshare.
Our intuition is strong (and a little scary)
Introverted intuition is our superpower. We sense what’s coming, we spot red flags before anyone else does, and when something feels off, it usually is.
If something feels bad—a person, a job, a situation—we walk away. No need to explain it.
Fortunately, it works both ways, we also sense when something feels right. Then we go for it. With full confidence. Even if nobody else understands why.
So.
If you’ve made it this far—maybe you’re an INFJ too.
Or maybe you’re just curious.
Either way—thanks for reading.
