About me — Andrea

Hi there!

You never know how to start these kinds of stories, so let’s keep it simple — my name is Andrea, I come from Prague, Czech republic, and I’m currently living in the Netherlands. I’ve been in IT for almost a decade. I hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science and I’m still working in tech. Though I had a few attempts to leave the IT field, I somehow keep coming back.

My attempts to leave were fueled by a love-hate relationship with IT. The whole day you’re staring at a screen, trying to figure out why your code isn’t working. When you finally solve the issue, you feel like a genius for a second and thank the universe that you chose the right path for yourself, because at the end of the day, you are pretty good at it. Then, inevitably, the next issue pops up, and you hate your job again. But in recent months, I’m leaning more toward love than hate. I hope it will only be love from now on.
I’ve always felt I have too many soft skills that I could be using elsewhere. I’m very empathetic, a great listener, and I can give life advice you didn’t even know you needed.

So, I’m still waiting for that leading people role to come my way — let’s see!

In my free time, I go to the gym. I’ve been going consistently for 4 years! For me, the gym is about much more than just losing weight — it’s about boosting your confidence, improving your mood throughout the day, and raising your overall vibration. However, I must admit I’ve been a bit inconsistent lately and haven’t been to the gym for three months. But more on that later!

Another hobby of mine is learning languages. I mean, for me, if you really wanna force yourself to learn the language, you need to move to another country, otherwise learning languages wouldn’t be on my list of hobbies. It is hobby out of necessity, and it is taking a big part of my days. But don’t get me wrong — I’m enjoying it. People are the greatest asset in the world, and every language you learn opens the door to deeper connections.

I also really used to like travelling, but now I am more in a mood that travelling is overrated — for me. I don’t like packing, I don’t like waiting at the gate or getting out of my routine. I hope I’ll rekindle my passion for travel one day.

Don’t misunderstand me, though — I loved traveling back then! I’ve been to Japan, the USA, and almost all of Europe. But now I’ve come to realize that I don’t need to see everything, and I’m okay with that.

Thank you for reading my first article!

See you in the next one.

Bye,

Andrea
